The capital city, Phoenix, located in the Maricopa County, is undoubtedly the most important city of Arizona. Other cities of importance are Mesa, Glendale, Peoria, Chandler, Sun City, Sun City West, Fountain Hills, Gilbert, El Mirage & so on & so forth.

The second largest city, Tucson, is located in the Pima County in the southwestern part of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The University of Arizona is located here. The cities of Prescott, Sedona, and Cottonwood & Camp Verde are all located in the Prescott metropolitan area.

Another important city Yuma is located near the borders of Mexico & California. Being one of the hottest cities of the state, Yuma experiences an average July temperature of 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Yuma attracts many tourists during the winters.

Ponderosa pine forests & ski areas are to be found in abundance in Flagstaff, which is the largest city in northern Arizona. Flagstaff is located at the base of the San Francisco Peaks. It is a major tourist spot owing to its proximity to the Grand Canyon National Park, Sedona & the Old Creek Canyon. Flagstaff is also home to the main campus of the National Arizona University.
