The Lost Dutchman State Park, Arizona
Located in the Sonoran Desert the Lost Dutchman State Park is located 2,000 feet above the sea level. The park presents a number of campsites, hiking trails, picnic facilities, nature trails, and special programs all through the year. Since the winters are mild and the Valley of the Sun is nearby this becomes an ideal destination for many. Daytime temperatures more often than not reach about 60° F for the duration of the winter, whereas during the summer month’s temperatures can rise well above 100° F.
There is a great legend of a gold miner surrounding this place and it is after him whom the place has been named after. Presently there are a number of events happening at the park such as:

1. Friday Night Astronomy Events
Astronomer Bill Dellinges teaches about the night skies on Friday nights at 7 pm on these dates:

· February 13, 2009
· March 13 (7:30 pm)

2. Moonlight Hikes
Led by the rangers on the full moon nights at just $5 between 7pm and 9pm on these dates:

· Friday, December 12, 2008
· Friday, January 9, 2009
· Sunday, February 8, 2009
· Sunday, March 8, 2009 (7:30 – 9:30 pm for March hike)
