Villa Thai Cuisine

Villa Thai Cuisine

Villa Thai Cuisine opened in 2006. Villa Jarrell is the person behind the idea and initiative. Thai cuisine is not very familiar to the people of Tucson. So the location was important initially to see if the people really like the food or not. She picked the perfect spot to attract a diverse crowd that are educated and independent. With a great menu of delicious food and courteous hosts they got the attention very quickly.

The people who there are very friendly and give you a warm welcome every time you visit. Not only the servers, but the owner goes to each table and make the customers feel at home.

They have a long menu, plenty of options to choose from. Variety of wines and Asian beer if you want to try it. Some of the wines are special for the restaurant, others change from time to time. They use all fresh ingredients for their food which makes the food more delicious. They have expert chefs and they can change the dishes slightly if you ask them to do so. Thai food is normally spicy. If you don’t like spicy food, they can change it to your taste.

The place is very nicely decorated. The cozy sitting arrangements make it a perfect place for business networking or a romantic date.

Fort Lowell Museum Tucson

Fort Lowell Museum Tucson

At the end of the Indian war and the surrender of Geronimo, the fort at Tucson was abandoned. The Fort Lowell Museum in Tucson is in that abandoned fort. There are many historical and interesting displays in the museum. Among them there are reconstructed officers’ quarters. These quarters were built Mexican style. They had dirt roofs and pine logs. It also shows the how the front line military used to live their lives at the fort.

The camp was formed in 1866. Later they established the fort in 1873. The main purpose of this army was to protect the settlers, patrolling borders and protecting supplies. They used to conduct aggressive operations against the apache Indians. Main target was the most famous apache leaders, Geronimo. Even though he was not an Apache chief, he was famous for his courage. Aggression and courage was highly valued among the apache Indians. Geronimo was so fierce that he became a legend.

The troops in Fort Lowell were always in contact with Tucson. The music, dinner, dance, baseball games and gambling will bring them in Tucson. After Geronimo’s surrender, the fort was not needed anymore, so it was abandoned. It has been a museum since 1963 to remind us the old days.

Canyon De Chelly

Canyon De Chelly

Canyon De Chelly (pronounced “shay”) became a national monument in February 1931. It was given different names to match the right pronunciation. It was Canon of Cheille, Canyon Chenelle, Chelly Canyon and Canyon Chennele. In 1932 all variations were eliminated for Canyon de Chelly.

Canyon de Chelly is not as well known as other canyons in Arizona. It is considered to be less spectacular than others as well but there is lot of beauty to enjoy. There is at least thousand feet high walls which overlooks many beautiful sights, a view of today’s Navajo life and many Anasazi ruins.

Canyon de Chelly is actually a combination of four deep narrow passages with rocky side, which is also called gorge. It spreads eastward into the Defiance Plateau. Most of the canyon is only accessible from the rough tracks on the top. There are paved roads only to the north and south sides. The north side is connected to the route AZ 12 and the drive through overlooks some spectacular sights. The south road s not connected to any other roads. You cannot drive through but this side offers much more scenic beauties than the others.

There is visitor centre and campsite, also hotels nearby for visitors to stay overnight and enjoy the beauty to its fullest.

National Day of The Cowboy

National Day of The Cowboy

Do you know the difference between country music and cowboy music? If you thought they are the same thing, this is your chance to visit he city park on the national day of cowboy to listen to some real cowboy music. Lyrics are written by cowboys and they sing it as well.

Cowboys and cowgirls have contributed a lot in American culture. This is the day when Americans celebrate and show their appreciation to their contribution. Even the American president has said that the love that cowboys and cowgirls show for their country, it is an example for all Americans. The main purpose of the whole National Day celebration is to share the history and heritage of the cowboys. Education, rodeos, arts, gathering and community activities can help preserve the memory and grow awareness and appreciation.

In this event in city park this September, besides listening some real cowboy music you will hear some cowboy poetry. Cowboy artists will present their crafts while vendors will bring in lots of goodies.

No matter how much is said about the cowboy music, you is never enough. No matter who is presenting a song, the lyrics seems to change with even slightly with every performance. You can always expect something different and little twist here and there when listening to them.

In fact quite the opposite.
